Shastar Vidhya was introduced to Sikhs by our 6th Guru, Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee. At Shan E Khalsa Gurmat Academy we have a Gatka Akhara to train individuals in the Sikh Martial Art of Gatka.

Sikh Band

Shan E Khalsa first established its very first Sikh band team in 2001. We are proud of the recognition and accomplishments we have achieved over the past years, from participating in Nagar Kirtans in Canada and the United States to being in our local Canada parades.

Kirtan & Tabla Class

Gurmat Sangeet or Kirtan is the practice of singing the Guru's Shabad, with or without the use of instruments. We teach students how to play the vaja (harmonium) or tabla (hand drums) in order to practice singing the Guru's shabads at home or at our many events and programs.

We host Kirtan Smagams at various locations such as gurdwara, parks, and pre-booked homes. Families can sign up to book a spot to host at their home.

Gurmat Smagams are held to celebrate special Sikh historical days such as Gurpurabs. Paath, Katha, and Kirtan are performed by our students and the joining sangat. Families can sign up to host a Gurmat Smagam at their home or at the Academy.
